How much better can one tape measure be than any other model, you ask? After all, as long as the markings on the blade give a reliable measurement, and the tape measure can lock down and retract effectively, what’s the diff? It’s a fair question, but there are some things that make the whole measuring experience a whole lot more enjoyable. It’s a little like comparing the experiences of hauling a load with a pickup truck and a trailer, or a Tesla Electric Semi. Sure, both options will get the job done, but you’re going to have a lot more fun in the Tesla (which is still a merely hypothetical situation as the Tesla hasn’t been released yet…we can dream though).
Anyway, over at our PTR site, we recently conducted our 2018 Tape Measure Shootout. We had a lot of fun testing the durability, accuracy, feature sets, and overall design schemes of tape measure models from 8 different manufacturers. In the end, the race was tight, but we were able to settle on some clear-cut favorites. One of those favorite models was the 25′ Milwaukee Magnetic Tape Measure. Here’s what we learned about it through our rigorous testing…

We tested the Milwaukee Magnetic Tape Measure’s accuracy against the Lixer Master Calibration Tool, which can gauge tape measure accuracy to within a +/- 0.0005″ range of precision. We found that the Milwaukee’s measurements were dead-on accurate. Of course, this really only met the bare minimum of what we expect from a professional-grade tape measure. If it isn’t accurate, why own one, right? Well, no worries on that count; it measures to 1/16″ accurately.
Design, Durability, And Feature Set
Milwaukee incorporated an ergonomic design for this model. It fits comfortably in the hand and includes a finger-stop brake system. The rubber molding not only feels good to hold, but it provides impact protection.
Speaking of durability, the Milwaukee model performed exceedingly well in this department. After 36 drops from a 10″ ladder onto a concrete floor, this tape measure displayed some splitting in the housing and a broken tether point, but still performed almost flawlessly.
The Milwaukee Magnetic Tape Measure also features double-sided blade printing, a super functional belt clip, and a magnetic hook. Additionally, the hook system that Milwaukee employs does a great job of gripping from any angle.
Everyone should own a tape measure, and the Milwaukee Magnetic Tape Measure makes a strong case for which model everyone should own. Combining durability, ergonomics, and a rich feature set, the 25′ Milwaukee Magnetic Tape Measure was, hands down, one of our favorite models to use. It runs a little bit high on the price scale, but the few extra dollars you’ll spend on this tape are more than made up for by the sleek feel and functionality of this model.
