Diablo Wood and Metal Carbide Saw Blade Features

Diablo Wood and Metal Saw Blade MaterialsEven though the Diablo wood and metal carbide blade is not aimed at finishing, this 36-tooth blade does a great job of reducing blowout on lumber. The 7-1/4″ diameter is intended for circular saws, in either a corded or cordless variety. Arbor size can be either the standard 5/8″ diameter round or, with certain saws, you can eliminate the diamond knockout for less slip, more grip.

Diablo makes the TiCo carbide tips that are specific for this wood and metal blade. C-ATB or Chamber-Alternate Tooth Design resists impact damage when cutting nail-embedded wood, as well as it allows for burr-free cuts in metal. Laser-cut stabilizer vents trap noise and vibration for maximum stability, keeping the blade cool with accurate cuts in wood and metal.

Knowing that every job has its own set of obstacles, therefore we throw everything at this “everything” blade to see how well it performs. While it is designed for dimensional lumber up to 2-1/4″ thick, we started with the nemesis of construction, a 2×10 LVL (laminated veneer lumber). Next, we added some deck screws and galvanized roofing screws in the end of the LVL. After the Diablo Wood and Metal carbide blade laughed at this, we drilled a hole to add some 1/2″ all-thread.

Even though Diablo only rates the blade for cutting 1/4″ threaded rod, it still had no problem cutting through twice this thickness. Finally, not to be blamed for being easy, we screwed on a piece of 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ angle-iron. Still, the Diablo cut through the LVL, screws, all-thread, and angle, all in one pass. It’s nice to put one blade in your saw and not have to worry about changing it every time the material changes. Furthermore, there’s a Home Depot on every other corner, so it’s easy to pick up a couple for the tool bag.
