Gearwrench 120XP Torque Wrench Series Preview – SEMA 2018

Gearwrench 120XP Torque Wrench

Blown head gaskets, broken cranks, and ventilated engine blocks. What do all these have in common? They could have all started from mis-torqued critical fasteners. Would you give to the torque wrench fund today? Okay, maybe that was a bit too cheesy and down right irreverent, so let’s get to business. Torque wrenches are a need when you’re dealing with critical fasteners. The new Gearwrench 120XP torque wrench line brings together functionality, performance, ergonomics, and aesthetics.

Gearwrench 120XP Torque Wrench Features

These new Gearwrench torque wrenches come in the typical 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2″ drive sizes. 120XP refers to the 120-tooth, dual pawl, ratchet design, which provides a 3-degree swing-arc. This lower swing-arc allows the user to work within a tighter range of travel. Accuracy for the Gearwrench 120XP torque wrench is +/- 3% when tightening (clockwise).

Gearwrench has made it easy to hold these new 120XP torque wrenches by including a knurled aluminum handle. On either end of the handle are oversized aluminum rings with a ramp. These larger rings give the user’s hands a positive stop, ensuring their grip. On an area just above the handle are the torque settings, and black anodized metal with white numbers and markings make it very easy to read. The lock-detent for the setting and locking the torque settings is easy to actuate. We’re looking forward to getting one or all of these torque wrenches in soon for a full review.
