Shop Tool Review
We have all had the jobs when we just needed a little more room and we could use our impact. Well, Sunex Tools may not be able to make more room, but their Low Profile Impact Sockets require less space to work in. At roughly $50 for the set and a lifetime warranty, this is a great purchase.
We have all been there, when you needed another half-inch of clearance in order to use your impact wrench and socket . The Sunex Tools low profile impact socket set (part #: 2674) gives you that half-inch, and more. These are not only extremely short and compact, but they are also impact rated. Tools like this low profile impact socket set are sure to enable new opportunities to use an impact wrench, rather than brute manual force.
Low Profile Impact Socket Set Features
Made from Chrome-Moly (Cr-Mo), the low profile impact socket set from Sunex will perform well and last forever. Include the lifetime warranty, and you don’t have to be concerned about breakage. This Sunex Tools set includes SAE sizes, but the metric equivalent meets the same standards (part #: 2673). The set comes with 11 sockets and the alloy socket holder, from the 3/8″ socket all the way to 1″. Each socket is laser etched with the fractional size, as well as they are all embossed with the size on each socket.
A hex shank adorns the top of each socket, so a wrench can be used to drive the sockets when and if the need arises. The low profile design enables the technician to get into areas not possible with a typical size socket. In some of our testing, we compared the overall size of the socket and impact wrench to a typical impact socket and impact wrench. With the low profile sockets on a Sunex Tools SXMC12 mini impact, the total length of socket and impact was less than 5-inches. Compare that to over 11 inches for a typical impact socket on a cordless impact.

I really like using these Sunex low profile sockets. In addition to helping the user get into spaces they normally couldn’t, they also give the user more room and maneuvarability in accessible spots. At a street price of $50, these Sunex sockets will pay for themselves in just a few uses. Add in the lifetime warranty and there is no reason why any mechanic wouldn’t want these in the toolbox.
