DCM849P2 DeWalt Cordless Rotary Polisher Features
DeWalt is no stranger to bringing professional quality tools to the cordless stage. Their 20V MAX Lithium-Ion battery line is a leader in the industry. With the 20V MAX 6.0 battery and a brushless motor, the DeWalt cordless rotary polisher spins the 7-inch pad up to 2,200 RPM. The variable speed trigger allows you to control and finesse surfaces where needed, hence the speed window is between 800 and 2,200 RPM. Furthermore, you get a speed dial to set the MAX RPM, and you can still vary that speed with the trigger.

Included in the DCM849P2 rotary polisher kit is a 7-inch backing plate, side handle, and a D-handle. The head of the polisher, above the pad, is rubber-molded as well for gripping without handles. At the rear of the handle, the battery is turned 90-degrees from the typical, which allows for more clearance.
Rotary polishers were about the only choice for machine polishing, not too many years ago. In the past decade, the dual-action and random-orbital polishers stormed the stage and stole the show. This is not to say that there’s still not a place for rotary polishers. Many detailers still keep a rotary in their arsenal, because nothing cuts like a rotary. The DeWalt cordless rotary polisher opens the door to be much handier and accessible, since there’s no cord or power needed. We’re interested to see how well it performs in real-world testing. Hopefully, we’ll get our hands on one soon.
