Ridgid is not a new name in the shop vac world. While it’s not the name’s sake of the shop vacuum, it might as well be. The new Ridgid HD1800 shop vac sets new goals in place for any other that’s looking to be king of the hill. As the title states, with 6.5 horsepower on tap and a 16-gallon bucket to fill, this is one beast of a vacuum.
Ridgid HD1800 Shop Vac Features
If it can be pulled through a 2-1/2″ hose, then the Ridgid 6.5hp vacuum should be able to handle it. In addition to the power and capacity, the features continue to set the HD1800 apart. Instead of the typical 4 swivel casters, you get two swivel casters on the front and two large wheels on the rear. These plastic wheels are covered in a rubber tread and make traversing shop obstacles rather easy.
A Vac with No Cord and Less Bite: Home Depot for $149
The hose and all the attachments are 2-1/2″ diameter on the big end. A locking teeth and tab feature allow each attachment to positively connect with each other. Each corner of the base includes a place for the 2-1/2″ attachments to rest when not in use. Furthermore, each corner will also accept smaller 1-7/8″ attachments as well. It seems as though there is a place for everything on the Ridgid HD1800 shop vac. Even the 20-foot cord wraps around the main handle, just above the large power button.
Shop vacs are a must-have with fluids constantly spilling, and oil-dry continuously in use. Have the HD1800 vacuum is like the cherry on top. It should handle the big jobs but still have the accessory for the small jobs as well. The price of $149 is a pretty big bite, but this is the best of the best. Not a bad deal when you add the Ridgid lifetime warranty as well.
