Milwaukee continues to broaden its tool storage line. This time, it’s the Milwaukee 40-inch work cart. This reinforced steel cart includes 2 drawers and a 700-pound capacity. The top is left open to carry the parts, pieces, and tools to be used while on the job. Also, a large open area in the middle of the cart allows for storage of bigger items, such as Milwaukee Packout stuff.
Milwaukee 40-inch Work Cart Features
Milwaukee uses 5″ industrial casters and a welded steel frame to deliver the 700 lbs. capacity. The finish on the Milwaukee work cart remains the same as their other tool storage solutions, such as the Milwaukee 52″ Mobile Cart. Signature red paint coats a textured finish.
Soft Close Drawers
Both drawers on the Milwaukee 40-inch work cart feature the soft-close ball-bearing slides that we’ve become used to. Each drawer also carries a 100 lb. capacity. One drawer sits at the top, just under the top compartment, and the drawer is lockable with the included barrel-key. The lower drawer sits at the very bottom, allowing open access to its contents.
On one side of the Milwaukee work cart is a power strip for charging your tools or smartphones, or for powering those few corded tools you have left. Inside the top cavity are two storage cups that can be removed, independently, if you wish. For the electricians reading this, this 40-inch work cart also sports an integrated spool holder for electric wiring or any other contents stored on a spool.
One end of the cart includes steel shelves that can be moved or removed altogether. These shelves store aerosol cans, lubricant, squirt bottles, etc. A large steel handle fastens to one end of the Milwaukee 40-inch work cart providing easy maneuvering. Rubber bumper guards reside on each lower corner and two upper-corners.
Our Thoughts and Availability
With the addition of this Milwaukee work cart, the brand definitely has a vast array of tool storage and tool cart selections. Looking through mechanics glasses, I can see a couple of changes to this cart to make it a true Service Cart. In fact, Milwaukee, if you’re listening: please add a locking lid and a couple of more drawers. You can even turn the power strip to the inside, so it’s lockable too. We even like the Milwaukee 40-inch work cart as-is, and we hope to get our hands on one soon.
Select dealers and distributors are supposed to get these in April, 2019, and MSRP is expected to be $399. The typical 5-year Milwaukee warranty is included.
