The Milwaukee 2485 die grinder includes a power button with 4 selections: 10,000; 15,000; 20,000; and 25,000 RPM. With just a push of the button, you select the proper RPM for the accessory you’re using. Furthermore, this just sets the max RPM, hence the variable speed paddle-switch allows you infinitely adjust the speed. The paddle switch includes a lockout feature just like most pneumatic die grinders. The lock must be slid forward before the paddle switch applies power to the tool.

Power Modes

A bright LED casts light upon the subject area, but sometimes your hand may get in the way of the LED. The 1/4″ collet requires two wrenches (included) for accessory removal/replacement. Metal mesh screens protect the brushless motor on the intake ports of the M12 FUEL right angle die grinder. Two M12 2.0Ah batteries are included in the kit, along with the tool, charger, and wrenches.

Final Thoughts

Using this new Milwaukee 2485 M12 die grinder on our dismantled LS engine was a breeze. This easily removed old gasket remnants as well as paint and primer from an old fender. This new cordless right angle die grinder offers many more features than the typical pneumatic right angle grinder. Just the ease of use and the lack of need of a compressor and a hose will drive many mechanics and fabricators to this new M12 FUEL 2485 die grinder. Milwaukee Tool also plans to release the M12 FUEL inline die grinder in February 2020.
