New Metabo large angle grinders include mechanical brakes that stop the wheel within 2-1/2″ seconds of releasing the trigger. Metabo is the first to release large angle grinders with a safety brake. These new large format grinders are available in 7-inch and 9-inch models. Two 7-inch models and one 9-inch model, all made in Germany.

This new line of grinders will all include the 15 Amp high-torque motors with electronic overload protection. An LED warning light alerts the user when it senses overload, mitigating motor failure, and prolonging the tool’s life. The 7-inch models will have a no-load speed of 8,500 RPM, while the 9-inch model has a no-load speed of 6,600 RPM. Metabo included their MVT vibration dampened handle the aids in ergonomics when cutting and grinding.

Metabo Large Angle Grinders with Safety Brake

If you’re in any trade that includes metalworking, then you’re probably aware that Metabo makes some of the best angle grinders. They introduced the first safety clutch back in the 1960s that keeps a pinched blade from flying apart. Some of that same technology is still used today.

In addition to the mechanical safety brake, these new Metabo large angle grinders also include a non-locking paddle-switch and an electronic clutch. A tool-free adjustable guard allows the user to shift the guard in seconds for the optimum position. All three grinders also include soft-start technology to ramp-up the grinding wheel to speed.
