South Bend SB1052 Metal Lathe

The South Bend SB1052 metal lathe offers 3-phase, 10-amp/14-amp, 2.5/5 HP TEFC induction motor that operates up to 3,450/1,725 RPM. This motor features a 1.57″ D1-5 cam lock type spindle with 16 spindle speeds from 50 to 2,570 RPM. This kind of flexibility makes the South Bend SB1052 useful for a rather wide variety of applications and other metalworking projects.

South Bend SB1052 Metal Lathe Features

Another feature of the South Bend SB1052 metal lathe is its completely enclosed universal QC gearbox, and the tool cuts inch, metric, modular, and diametral pitch threads (for things like worm drive gears). It also has features like a long saddle for stability, pull out chip pan, and a full compliment of standard equipment that includes 3 and 4-jaw chucks, steady and follow rests, and micrometer carriage stop.

The South Bend SB1052 metal lathe has an adjustable feed rod clutch and stop collar—a great safety feature when working close to the chuck. Simply set the stop collar so the saddle and tool post are positioned at a safe distance from the chuck and tighten the lock screw. Then adjust the feed rod clutch to a low setting.
