Forward Reverse Selector SwitchCordless impact wrenches are not only gaining popularity, but many pros are using these as their g0-to impact tool. With many of the high-torque cordless impacts reaching towards 1,000 ft-lbs of torque, there’s not much they can’t do. ACDelco Tools doesn’t want to miss out on this growing trend. They are releasing their latest 20V brushless fighter, the ACDelco Tools ARI2002 impact wrench – model ARI2002.

The ARI2002 ACDelco impact kit includes the high-torque 1/2″ anvil impact wrench, 2 – 4.0Ah lithium ion batteries, charger, auxiliary handle and a blow-molded carry case. ACDelco Tools ARI2002 Impact Wrench Features

Powered by a 20V Lithium Ion battery and a brushless motor, this jumbo impact has 1,100 ft-lbs of reverse torque. It’s not only capable of busting loose tight fasteners, but it can handle putting them on too. Going forward, the ARI2002 packs a max-tightening punch of almost 750 ft-lbs. Three fastening modes allow the user to select how much force is applied when tightening fasteners.

Governed By Torque

High Torque HandleA notable feature of the ACDelco Tools ARI2002 impact wrench is torque control. Two of the three forward speeds are controlled by torque, with the third speed being maximum torque. This means users can safely use the ARI2002 impact to run bolts on cylinder heads, or lugs on wheels. Final tightening can be done with a torque wrench for exact measure. Speeds for each of the three modes are 0-950, 0-1,300, and 0-1,700 RPM. In addition, the impacts per minute are 0-2,000 IPM. Users can use the variable speed trigger to vary the RPM/IPM, regardless of which mode is selected.

What’s Inside?

Internally, the ARI2002 high torque impact wrench has an all metal gearbox housing for increased durability. The brushless motor helps to deliver more power and increase efficiency over previous brushed-motor models. Our sister site over at Pro Tool Reviews covered the brushed model in the ACDelco ARI2060 Impact Wrench Review, so check it out. The 1/2″ anvil is a friction-ring or hog-ring style, so sockets stay put and detach without tools.

On The Outside

Battery Level IndicatorBattery indicator lights and an indicator button reside on each 20V Li-Ion 4.0Ah battery pack. Users check the battery status by depressing the battery-icon button. The LED indicators display up to 3 red lights – fully charged, 2/3 charged and 1/3 charged.  On the bottom of the handle, nearest where the battery attaches are three mode indicator lights. These lights indicate which power mode the user has selected. Depressing the circular arrow button allows the user to change power modes.

Overmolding on the ACDelco Tools ARI2002 impact wrench is quite impressive. Lines between the plastic housing and the overmolding is very clean and precise. Furthermore, the overmolding makes the ARI2002 quite comfortable to hold, even though cordless impacts are heavy tools. Total tool weight for the ARI2002 impact wrench is 7.26 lbs.
