If you have ever removed a transmission, then you know the value of having long, impact-rated and locking extensions. Having a socket fall off the end of your extension while you’re under a car and the socket is two-feet from your reach, let the expletives fly. The extended line of Gearwrench locking impact extensions take these proven designs and expand them into more and longer options.

Gearwrench Locking Impact Extensions Features
On September 29, 2016, GearWrench announced the expansion of its Locking Impact Extension line with six new longer extensions. The same type of locking impact extensions, which mechanics learned to love, are available in 3/8” and ½” drive. Once the socket is on the GearWrench locking impact extensions, it remains secure and locked to the extension until the technician pulls the collar locking mechanism to release the socket. This pull collar locking mechanism ensures that technicians retain control of their tools, especially relevant when they need to reach fasteners in confined, far away places.
“The new Long Locking Impact Extensions solve a problem that technicians often face,” said Jim Stewart, product manager for GearWrench. “When putting an impact socket on distant fasteners in tight spaces, these extensions provide the security of knowing the socket will not come off and need to be retrieved.”

Not only are the tools that Gearwrench release innovative, they are also durable. GearWrench manufactures the locking impact extensions with Chrome Molybdenum alloy steel (Cr-Mo). In order to provide the best resistance against corrosion, a Manganese Phospate coating covers the surface. In addition to their pull-collar lock, they also have a pin hole and O-ring groove. The collar keeps the socket on the extension, as well as the pin and O-ring retention system keeps the extension on the impact wrench.
