Cutting steel can be a real pain. Just think of the concept, the material being cut is the same material that holds our vehicles together and keeps the skyscrapers standing tall. The new JET abrasive cut-off saws are making this task easier than ever. JET recently released the AB-12 and AB-14 abrasive saw, model #414240 and #414245, respectively. Both saws include a heavy duty steel cabinet providing the base for the saws and allowing the material to be handled at a comfortable level.

JET Abrasive Cut-off Saws Combined Features

These JET abrasive cut-off saws each require 3PH power at 230V. To reduce vibration, the JET saws have a casted head, which also delivers precise cutting for years to come. Durability seems to be the theme with the cast iron body construction and even a cast blade guard that also aids in keeping the user safe. Even ergonomics come into play with the whole-hand trigger that is spring-loaded, providing a smooth cutting action.

In addition to a spark guide or arrestor, dust collection is available for hook-up on the spark arrestor for the expensed steel material from the abrasive cuts. The JET abrasive cut-off saws include indexed postions to quickly adjust angles at 45 and 90 degrees. Finally, both the JET AB-12 and AB-14 follow the strict guidelines and requirements to be CSA/CUS certified.

Our Take

Abrasive cut-off saws are nothing new, but JET seems to be taking them to a new level. The cast-iron base and body of the AB-12 and AB-14 should definitely aid in durability and vibration. The long, spring-loaded whole-hand handle also stands out to be a good idea for reducing fatigue on the user. We hope to get our hands on one soon to try it out for real.
