We first saw this new Milwaukee M12 Brushless Rotary Tool at the PIPELINE event back in June of 2023. The power impressed us out of the gate and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on this new Milwaukee rotary tool to do some further testing. With 30% more power on tap than the previous M12 rotary tool, more detailed work may be on the horizon.
Milwaukee M12 Rotary Tool Features
Powered by the M12 battery, you can choose to run the Milwaukee 2525 with a standard 2.0 M12 battery or step up to longer runtimes with an XC battery. Albeit, the standard 2.0 or 2.5Ah battery will provide the slimmest contour and size. In addition to the increased power, this new model also adds an LED light near the tip. There are 12 speeds available at the push of a button, from 5,000 to 27,500 RPM.
Changing bits and accessories are a cinch with this new model. While there is a wrench provided for the collet, it’s not needed for regular bit changes. With the spindle-lock button pressed, just turn the nose-piece a 1/8-turn and the ring becomes a wrench for the collet. Change out your bit, then use the same nose-piece to tighten the collet. This helps mitigate the need for searching for those small wrenches every time you need a different accessory.
Milwaukee 2525 Conclusion
Whether it’s cutting through schedule 40 PVC with a cutoff wheel, sanding wood, or drilling holes, this new Milwaukee M12 Brushless Rotary tool delivers more power than the previous model. If you’re looking for something to replace that old Dremel, you may want to have a good look at this new Milwaukee 2525. Pricing starts at $129 for the bare tool, or you can choose a kit for $199 (including 2.0 M12 battery). Covered with a Milwaukee 5-year warranty.
