If speed is what you desire from your air tools, then the Monster butterfly impact wrench (Model: MST714) is the tool for you. With three speed settings to choose from, the MST714 will vary from 0 – 12,000 RPM. There is nothing like the high-pitch whine from a high-RPM pneumatic tool. This Monster is actually very small, hence it fits easily in the palm of my hand. The “butterfly” in the title pertains to the rocker trigger (valve) that dictates Forward or Reverse.

Monster Butterfly Impact Wrench MST714 Features

You get up to 80 ft/lbs. of torque from the Monster MST714, but I would recommend hammering away with 80 lbs. on small fasteners. The anvil is only a 1/4″ square, so most of your sockets and bits are going to be on the small side when using this air wrench. Even though 80 lbs. of force is impressive from such a little tool, I am more impressed by the speed of the tool.

The overall length of the Monster butterfly impact wrench is only 5.5 inches, so what a great candidate to fit into tight spaces. Air input comes through the typical 1/4″ inlet. In addition to being light and small, the MST714 is also light on air consumption. Average consumption is only 2.1 cfm or 59 L/min, so your air compressor breathe a sigh of relief from your other tools that hog the air.

Speedy End

While the Monster butterfly impact wrench only delivers 80 lbs. of torque, we’re not reaching for this tool from our toolbox because of the torque. The small form factor make this a great choice for keeping an air tool in a small toolbox. Whether you’re a motorcycle mechanic removing those long crankcase bolts or you need to remove the many bolts from around a transmission pan, this MST714 mini impact may be the perfect tool for you.
