DeWalt 20V ATOMIC Impacts Video Review – DCF850 DCF921 DCF923
DeWalt 20V ATOMIC Impacts – Impact Driver and Wrenches
News of the new DeWalt 20V ATOMIC Impacts spread quickly among the tool world. We had no idea that just a few short days later we would receive all three of these new brushless impacts. In the mix is the DCF921 DeWalt 20V ATOMIC Brushless 1/2″ Impact Wrench, the DCF923 ATOMIC 20V 3/8″ Impact Wrench, and the DCF850 ATOMIC 20V 1/4″ Impact Driver. The two larger impact wrenches deliver up to 450 ft-lbs of breakaway torque, while the DCF850 still bolsters 1850 in-lbs (150 ft-lbs) of torque.
DeWalt DCF850 ATOMIC 20V Impact Driver
While the DeWalt DCF850 Impact Driver is the smallest of the bunch, that doesn’t mean it’s down on power. This 20V brushless impact driver still busts fasteners loose at 150 ft-lbs. Three LED lights surround the 1/4″ hex chuck and the 3-speed switch controls maximum power. Furthermore, the variable speed trigger allows the user to feather the throttle for the exact RPM.
ATOMIC 20V DCF921 1/2″ Impact Wrench
With a 1/2″ anvil and a brushless motor, this new DeWalt DCF921 ATOMIC Impact Wrench more than compensates for its compact size. With 450 ft-lbs of torque on tap, the variable speed trigger allows you to sneak up gently. Two new membrane buttons, only on the impact wrenches, control the speeds, modes, and LED light. Bolt mode senses when the impact wrench has loosened the fastener, then it slows the speed of the anvil.
DeWalt DCF923 ATOMIC 3/8″ Impact Wrench
At less than an ounce different, weight-wise, the DeWalt DCF923 3/8″ Impact Wrench still delivers on the promise. This is virtually the exact same impact wrench as the DCF921, with the exception of the anvil difference.
Our Thoughts
It’s only been a few days since we were blown away with the new DeWalt DCF901 12V Xtreme Impact Wrench. Now, we have the honor of putting the new 20V ATOMIC Compact Impact wrenches and driver to the test. They were nothing short of amazing as well. We love seeing these compact impacts still delivering on the power. They don’t break the bank either.
DeWalt DCF921 1/2″ Impact Wrench: $199
From a theoretical standpoint, I wonder which would be the better choice to purchase between the DCS 921 and the DCF 923. Since they’re basically the same gun, except for Anvil size, I wonder if the half inch Anvil will last longer at 450 ft lb than the 3/8 anvil…. What do you think?
Arguably, the 1/2″ should last longer, but unless you’re using this extensively non-stop, the 3/8″ should last a lifetime anyway. Really depends on your frequency and how hard you push it.
