GEARWRENCH 89620 Torque Screwdriver Features

The GEARWRENCH torque screwdriver can be easily adjusted from 10 to 50 inch-pounds. Just pull back the thick knurled ring and rotate the screwdriver handle, then set the marks on the number of in-lbs that you desire. Once your number is set, release the ring and lock it into place. As you apply rotating pressure, the torque screwdriver will rotate once the force is overcome.

On the end of the torque screwdriver handle a 1/4″ ratchet can be used for additional leverage or space issues. The 20-piece set provides many of your typical tips normally used. From Phillips to Standard, square-drive, and even nut drivers from 3/16″ to 1/2″. There are no metric sizes available, but you do get the crossover sizes for 8 (5/16″), 11 (7/16″), and 13mm (1/2″).

Final Thoughts

Our eyes were opened a bit once we started doing some research on torque screwdrivers and when to use them. We didn’t know that a typical worm-drive hose clamp should only be torqued to 35-40 in-lbs, and that your typical electrical outlet is only torqued to 12-14 in-lbs. While the GEARWRENCH 89620 set is not cheap at $179, it is something that will allow you to be much more precise in your everyday jobs.
